Lung cancer screening rates remain critically low due to awareness gaps and accessibility challenges.
Less than 1% of eligible individuals get screened.
Limited clinic access in rural and underserved communities.
Mistrust in the healthcare system affects participation.

Impact & Insights
This solution enhances accessibility, raises awareness, and simplifies the screening process, empowering more individuals to take proactive steps toward lung cancer prevention.
Why This Matters?
Low screening rates are driven by multiple barriers, limiting access to early detection.
Socioeconomic inequities – Limited healthcare access and financial barriers prevent many from getting screened.
Health literacy gaps – Mistrust in the system and language barriers discourage participation.
Awareness challenges – Lack of outreach and education leads to missed screening opportunities.
Service Blueprint
We mapped the current lung cancer screening process in LA through research and interviews. Key barriers were identified to enhance accessibility and streamline patient experience.
Evolution of Design & Features

Design System Exploration
We initially explored a red-orange theme, but it felt too urgent for a healthcare app and the brand theme.
Based on user feedback, we switched to a blue-green palette, which better conveys trust, calmness, and professionalism, making the experience more approachable.
To ensure accessibility, we designed a fully web-based experience, eliminating the need for app downloads. This approach reduces friction, improves follow-through rates, and minimizes step fatigue, making it easier for users to complete their screening journey.

Beyond the App - Expanding Awareness
Family plays a crucial role in encouraging individuals to prioritize their health. Support from loved ones can reduce hesitation and increase screening participation. To reinforce this message, we designed multilingual posters and invitation letters, ensuring accessibility for diverse communities.
